• Following an investigation, the NYPD arrested Kuriakose Poulose in connection with the allegations.

• One Brooklyn Health, Brookdale Hospital’s parent organization, previously stated that it could not comment because of the ongoing criminal investigation.

Media reports and records from the New Jersey Board of Nursing indicate that disciplinary action was taken against Poulose in 2025 after he failed to disclose earlier allegations involving inappropriate physical contact dating back several years.

Those records reportedly reference multiple complaints involving patients and another involving a coworker. Although Poulose denied those allegations, the disciplinary proceedings resulted in Board action in New Jersey.

Public licensing records have indicated that his New Jersey nursing license became inactive following Board discipline, while his New York nursing license remained active.

These circumstances have led to broader questions regarding hiring practices, background investigations, licensing oversight, and whether healthcare institutions were aware—or reasonably should have been aware—of prior concerns before allowing continued patient contact.
